The Herb Chronicles
Produced as part of Trever Staton's The Herb Chronicles, this project has a very particular problem to solve: make an utterly ridiculous world feel cinematic. A sharp-eyed herb, deadpan humans, sci-fi machinery, and sudden bursts of chaos all have to coexist in the same frame. Our animatic work focused on timing, staging, and making every joke readable before the animation gets expensive.
About the project
A comedy series with a surprisingly serious camera.
The fun is in the contrast: a deliberately loose, sketchy visual language paired with cinematic setups, reaction shots, and action beats. We leaned into that contrast, using framing and timing to let the absurdity land without over-explaining it.

A little more context
Make the joke readable before you make it move.
With comedy, clarity is timing. A punch, a reaction, or a perfectly awkward pause only works if the viewer knows where to look. These boards were built to test that rhythm early, giving the final animation a clear path from setup to payoff.
And then there are the big beats: the spacecraft, the bright burst of light, the close-quarters action. They are where the loose linework suddenly has to think cinematically, and where a good animatic earns its keep.
